OPIUM...

Burnt earth bereft of sky,
Eagles swoop to stay behind,
Vultures rule the mangled heaps,
Caskets unveiled by shadows blind.

Owls sing in the praise of hawks,
Bats blinking in endless gaze,
Unknown noise screams within,
As night descends to skulk on preys,

And we all stay silent.

its almost like a song
the refrain, 'and we all stay silent'
i can feel guitar riffs and drum beats in and around my head
:)
okay, before i'm killed, yeah we all r silent dee. and u r not. atleast not in poetry.
so what next? how do u translate this into ur life? will u b content by remaining a helpless observer?
if i know u truly, u won't...
meanwhile, i can play those riffs and beats in my mind.

u are so right an opium induced like haze descends and we all sleep walk through life as many fall by the path never to rise again. We care not, we know not. Opium addicts each one of us.

Such a sad depiction so well done.

And as I read your poem the
war came to my mind ... the
senselessness, the disrepect
war lends to the earth and to
humans. Thank you for this
intelligent poem.

out of fear? or because we accept it as something true?
